Weedeated the right side of the walkway between the house and the Rose bed, straw bale beds #7-8, etc. Continued to weedeating to the right side of the house.

Sharon harvested many of the Short ‘n Sweet Carrots from straw bale bed #5. She also harvested some Ichiban Eggplant, Black Beauty Eggplant, and Asian Cucumbers.

 On the right side of the new fence, weedeated the back row, the row on the other side of straw bale beds #1-4 and all rows parallel to the new fence except the row between the Hydrangea bed and the right fence bed.

Finished weeding the Sedum / Iris bed. Most of the weeds uprooted were Violets, Nutsedge, and Morning Glory as shown in the “before” picture above.

Weeded the old part of the original bed and then proceeded to weed the part of the Sedum / Iris bed outside of the part containing the Sedum. Most of the weeds uprooted were Violets, Nutsedge, and Morning Glory.

Gardening Diary – June 5 - 13, 2019

 During this period, over 3 inches of rain fell on the garden.

Sharon cared for the straw bale beds at the times when it was not raining. She harvested, pruned and used kaolin clay on the plants.

Suffering and recovering from a flu bug prevented my gardening work.

Gardening Diary – June 4, 2019

 Sharon and I took the refuse plastic boxes and 4 bags of garden waste to the dump.

Noah and Sharon evened out the soil in straw bale bed #6. They planted 6 Crimson Watermelon seedlings and rearranged the drip hoses so that the seedlings would receive most of the water.

Noah watered the seedlings and, then, I watered the Strawberry tower.

Sharon and I harvested the rest of the Oregon Sugar Pod II Peas from straw bale bed #6. Afterwards, we removed all the plants and put them into the compost pile.

Sharon harvested a Yellow Crookneck Squash from straw bale bed #2 and a Short ‘n Sweet Carrot and a Detroit Dark Red Beet from straw bale bed #5.

While Sharon was harvesting, I went back and reweeded a part of the original bed. A bunch of Morning Glories and Yellow Nutsedges [Cyperus esculentus] came up. Again, pruned the Rose bush in the original bed. Need to cut this bush to the ground and coat it with a herbicide.

Gardening Diary – June 1, 2019

 Installed T-connectors in each of the irrigation lines in Hydrangea bed and the 2nd bulb bed about halfway down each of the beds. Connected the additional line that was installed yesterday.

Cut out part of the irrigation line that went from the 2nd bulb bed to the Hydrangea bed. Capped off the remaining lines at the cuts.

Tested successfully this setup.
