Gardening Diary – October 18, 2019

 Collected 6 cuttings from a Hibiscus plant and 6 cuttings from a Lantana plant. Dipped each of these cuttings in a root hormone ???. Placed each Hibiscus cutting and a couple of Lantana cuttings into a plastic pot which contained a mixture of 50% perlite and 50% potting soil. Each of the pots was placed in a 2 gallon clear plastic bag which is self-sealing.

Gardening Diary – October 15, 2019

 On Monday, we left Neo in the backyard when we took Noah to school and went for breakfast. When we came home, we found Neo on the left side of the garden. Apparently, he crawled through one of the openings in one of the gates.

Cut 2 pieces of plastic fence and attached each to each of the gates.

Gardening Diary – October 14, 2019

 Purchased 4 straw bales from Knoxville Seed and Greenhouse Company. We set them up in the front yard to provide the support of a Fall display.

On these bales, we placed 3 pots containing Chrysanthemums [Chrysanthemum sp.] which Sharon had purchased from Aldi’s. More items, including Pumpkins, will be added to the display.

 Planted the following 3 plants in the back bed:

Purpleleaf Sand Cherry Bush

[Prunus x cisterna].

The 3 plants were purchase from the distressed plants section of Lowe’s.

Sharon continued to prune the Wintergreen Boxwoods [Buxus microphylla var. koreana ‘Wintergreen’] from inside the Rose bed.

Gardening Diary – October 9, 2019

 Chipped many of the large weedy bushes that were cut down in the past couple of weeks. Did not chip the Pokeweeds [Phytolacca americana]; after a few weeks, will collect the Pokeweeds, bag them and take the bags to the dump.

Sharon returned to prune the Wintergreen Boxwoods [Buxus microphylla var. koreana ‘Wintergreen’] from inside the Rose bed. She also pruned some of the Roses [Rosa sp.] that were near the Wintergreen Boxwoods.

Gardening Diary – October 7, 2019

 Cut down large weeds and weedy bushes in the back bed. Used Stump-Out Stump and Vine Killer on the stumps of the weedy bushes that were cut.

 Continued to weed the left side of the back bed. Used Stump-Out Stump and Vine Killer on the stumps of the weedy bushes that were cut.

Watered the recent plants and, on Monday and Friday, watered the Strawberry tower.
