Raise bed #6

Worked the back half of the raised bed #6. Evened out soil and covered it with 1 bag of PRO-MIX Organic Garden Mix 2CF Compressed Soil.

Planted c 20 seeds of Candy Mountain Hybrid Sunflower that was purchased from Burpee Seeds.

Installed a spinner and covered this half of the bed with bird netting.

Gardening Diary – June 15, 2020

 Removed several Bluevines [Cyanchum laeve (sometimes called Ampelamus albidus)] and a Maypop Passionflower [Passiflora incarnata] vine from the Golden Ninebark [Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Luteus’] in the Hydrangea bed.

Sharon and I continued to weed the original bed.

Gardening Diary – June 13, 2020

 Continued to weed the tier bed and finally cut down the Tulip Poplar. There are least four other trees in the tier bed that needed to be cut down.

Sharon pruned and provided support for the Tomato plants and fertilized the plants in the raised beds #2-4.

We noticed that the Strawberry tower was not straight; we rearranged the levels to straighten it out.

Tier bed

There was a Tulip Poplar in the tier bed; we decided that it was a good time to cut it down before it grew any taller. Started weeding the tier bed so I could get to the Tulip Poplar. Was able to cut the Tulip Poplar in half.

 Continued weeding and pruning the Sedum / Iris bed and the bushes bed.

When the dogs came outside, I started weeding the original bed.

Raised bed #5

Sharon planted … in raised bed #5. I installed a spinner in each half of the bed.

We tried to put a bird net over the bed. We had a problem towards the back of the bed; the middle supports for a cover of the bed were longer than others. Decided to cut these back next time we are working in the yard.

Raised bed #1: Oregon Sugar Pod II Peas and Detroit Dark Red Beets

We observed that the Oregon Sugar Pod II Peas and Detroit Dark Red Beets have started to sprout in raised bed #1; Sharon planted these on June 4.

Purple Smoke Bush bed.

Dave pruned the plants in the Purple Smoke Bush bed.

Placed the contents of 2 bags of PRO-MIX Organic Garden Mix 2CF Compressed Soil on raised bed #5.

Sharon put fertilizer around some of the plants in raised beds #2-4.

Sharon and I started to weed and prune along the walkway between the Sedum / Iris bed and the center bush bed.

Evened out the soil in raised bed #6.

In raised bed #1, Sharon planted Oregon Sugar Pod II Peas, Detroit Dark Red Beets and Royal Purple Radishes.

While Sharon was planting, I moved the green fence from raised beds #1-3 to raised beds #2-4.

Then Sharon and I installed bird netting over raised bed #1.
