Gardening Diary – September 30, 2022

 Took a wagon load of weeds, from Tuesday’s weeding, over to Dave’s gulley.

Cut tall weeds and vines in the front bed of the left side of the back bed which contained Indian Currant bushes.



The berries of the Indian Currant had not ripen yet. Some of the berries had not developed as usual. Consequently, it was somewhat difficult to identify the Indian Currant bushes.

Gardening Diary – September 27, 2022

 SAME OLD, SAME OLD except this time Sharon and I took 2 wagon loads of weeds, from last week’s weeding, over to Dave’s gulley.

Sharon and I continued to cut down tall weeds in the left side of the back bed.

Gardening Diary – September 20, 2022

 Sharon and I took the wagon containing the weeds cut yesterday and emptied it in Dave’s gulley.

Sharon and I continued to weed the back bed. Again, most of the plants were Green-headed Coneflowers [Rudbeckia laciniata].

Gardening Diary – September 19, 2022

 Sharon and I took the wagon containing the weeds cut last week and emptied it in Dave’s gulley.

Over the weekend, Sharon cleared the large weeds and Green-headed Coneflowers [Rudbeckia laciniata] that were in the Rose bed.

Sharon and I started weeding in the back bed. In addition to many weeds, there were many Green-headed Coneflowers. We have decided to use the center of the back bed as our Green-headed Coneflower bed starting next year.

Gardening Diary – September 15, 2022

 SAME OLD SAME OLD! Sharon and I took the wagon containing the weeds cut on Tuesday and emptied it in Dave’s gulley.

Sharon continued pruning some of the bushes in the bush bed.

Sharon and I weeded the Iris bed concentrating on the Pokeweeds [Phytolacca americana] and Goldenrod [Solidago sp.].

Sharon also went into the original bed to remove the Virginia Creeper [Parthenocissus quinquefolia] that was crawling up the side of the house.

Gardening Diary – September 13, 2022

While moving the wagon with yesterday’s weeds, Sharon and I pulled up the tall weeds in the left fence walkway. We then unloaded the wagon in Dave’s gulley.

We continued to weed the Iris bed with Sharon continuing to prune some bushes in the bush bed.

Gardening Diary – September 12, 2022

 Took the wagon, filled with weeds removed last Tuesday, and dumped the weeds in Dave’s gulley.

Sharon and Larry removed tall weeds from the walkway between the original bed and the back bed, the original bed and the Iris bed. Pruned the Butterfly Bush [Buddleja davidii] that was in the back bed and weeded around this bush.

Took the wagon, filled with weeds removed yesterday, and dumped the weeds in Dave’s gulley.

Removed tall weeds from the original bed and the original bulb bed. Sharon removed tall weeds from the walkway between the original bed and the back bed.

Gardening Diary – September 6, 2022

Green-headed Coneflowers

Sharon and I took the wagon, filled with weeds removed last week, and dumped the weeds in Dave’s gulley.

Then, Sharon and I cut down the Green-headed Coneflowers [Rudbeckia laciniata] in the front of the Green-headed Coneflowers bed and on the left side of this bed. Some of the tall weeds in the bulb bed were also removed.

Gardening Diary – April 22, 2025

 For the second day in a row, continued with weeding and spreading black mulch on the front bulb bed and it started to rain! Additional phot...
