Gardening Diary – November 29, 2022

Picture taken on November 29, 2022.

For the past several days, Noah moved all of the cardboard boxes from the back porch to the area near the back door.

Sharon and I loaded as much cardboard as we could onto the wagon and loaded the cardboard into the back of the Mazda. We took the cardboard to the Knox County dump where we put it into one of the recycled bins. We repeated this for a second load of cardboard.

Daffodils bed
Picture taken on November 22, 2022.

Sharon and I finished weeding the Daffodils bed; the predominant weeds were Onions.

We cut back the False Asters [Kalimeris pinnatifida ‘Hortensis’] and removed the remaining Coleus plants [Plectranthus scutellarioides].

At about a third of the way through the work, the wagon was overflowing and we emptied the wagon in Dave’s gulley.

Gardening Diary – November 10, 2022

Sharon and I took some wood, which was taken down from the house when the contractor replaced it with new wood so that the new guttering could be fastened to it, to the dump.

Added support using rebar and a bungee cord for each pot of Chrysanthemums [Chrysanthemum sp.]. These pots were easily tipped over by wind or rain.

Removed the Coleuses which were killed by a freeze a couple of weeks ago from one side of the front Daffodils bed. Also weeded this part of the bed; most of the weeds were either Onions or Violets.

This week, we had the gutters on the house replaced. Since we have not used the rain barrels, we removed their connections from the gutter system.
