Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa!

This was the expression that the head of St. Francis Math Dept. said when he made an error at the blackboard. I use this expression since I made a very serious error with respect to this journal. I had some problems with an installation of the journal and made a new installation using the cloud. 

When things settled, I had two copies of this journal and one of the Journal 2020. One of the copies of this journal only had entries from 2021 to May 2023. When I tried to delete the latter copy, I made an ERROR and deleted the more recent copy!

NOW, I will have to add from memory the recent data from May 2023 through July 2023!

Gardening Diary – May 5, 2023

 

Sunny Knock Out Roses

Sharon did a quick weeding of the Sunny Knock Out Roses bed.

Sprayed ORTHO GroundClear on the weeds at the driveway’s edge of the Sunny Knock Out Roses bed and on some of the weeds in the Purple Smoke Bush bed.

Sharon distributed Preen Weed Preventer on the the Sunny Knock Out Roses bed. After emptying the Preen on the latter, she filled up the container with more Preen. Unfortunately, this Preen was contained in a bag and absorbed some moisture and Sharon had difficulty distributing the Preen on the Flowering Cherry bed. I helped her with the distribution of the Preen.

Sharon watered both the Sunny Knock Out Roses bed and the Flowering Cherry bed.

While Sharon was doing the above, I was continuing to weed the front bulb bed. When Sharon completed the above, she joined with me in weeding.

Gardening Diary – May 3, 2023

 Spread Preen Extended Control Weed Preventer around the plants which were planted the previous 2 days.

Watered the area which was covered by the Preen and, of course, the plants which were recently planted.

Went into the front yard and started to weed the front bulb bed. Started with the cutting of the unknown plant which is growing in the front fence.

Removed the weeds that were in the mulched area next to the front fence.

Silver King Euonymus (before and after pruning)

Pruned the Silver King Euonymus.

The recent cold weather seems to have stopped the progress of new growth on the Silver King Euonymus that we observed a few weeks ago. Hopefully, with the cold weather gone, this bush will recover.

Holly bush

Pruned out the unknown bush that had grown together with the Holly bush.

Sharon planted 19 Tulip [Tulipa sp.] bulbs in the Flowering Cherry bed; we had purchased a planter containing the blooming Tulips from Lowe’s.
