Near the place where the (now dead) Lilac bush was, there was a root from the Lilac bush which hindered the placing of bricks. Sawed out about a foot-long piece of the root.

Continued constructing the brick edging in front of the Pink Delight Butterfly Bush [Buddleia davidii] and the Kaleidoscope Butterfly Bush [Buddleia davidii  ‘Bicolor’].

 Started constructing the brick edging in front of Pink Flowering Almond bush [Prunus glandulosa]. Needed to weed and even out the area.

 Moved some of the bricks from the former Sky Pencil bed to the Lenten Rose bed.

Weed-eated in front of the Lenten Rose bed.

Tried to construct the brick edging, which we had at the Sky Pencil bed, at the Lenten Rose bed but with a different plastic holder. However, the connections between 2 holders made it difficult to go from left to right.

Decided to start again tomorrow but from the Pink Flowering Almond bush [Prunus glandulosa] and go right to left.

Sharon and I removed the bricks and the plastic holding them in the Sky Pencil bed. We need to decide where to put these bricks. We also took out most of the lawn staples that were holding down the hose in this bed.

Steve pruned further back the 2 Red Altheas [Hibiscus syriacus] at the front left corner of the tier bed.

Steve cut down all the bushes along the left fence. These included

• Sky Pencil Hollies [Ilex crenata ‘Sky pencil’]
• 2 Emerald Green Arborvitae [Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’]
• Blue Star Juniper [Juniperus squamata ‘Blue Star’]
• Janed Gold Arborvitae [Thuja occidentalis ‘Janed Gold’ Plant Patent #21,967
• Dwarf Alberta Spruce [Picea glauca ‘Conica’]
• 2 Cedars (? when we purchased these, they were labelled Sky Pencil Hollies)

Steve will be installing a privacy fence next to the chain link fence.

Cranberry Cotoneaster

Weeded one of the Cranberry Cotoneasters in the front yard. There were a lot of Wild Onions (or Garlic) and Violets. Sprayed Ortho GroundClear Weed and Grass Killer on the weeds just outside the bed.

Also sprayed Ortho GroundClear Weed and Grass Killer on some weeds in the driveway.
