Gardening Diary – March 22, 2022

 Moved the refuse from the pruning yesterday to Dave’s gulley.

Sunny Knock Out Roses

Sharon pruned one of the Sunny Knock Out Roses along the driveway.

Unfortunately, as she tried to weed around this plant, she fell out of her chair. She sustained a cut on her face.

Red Leaf Barberry Hedges, Purple Smoke Bush

Pruned the last of the Red Leaf Barberry Hedges and then the Purple Smoke Bush.


Pink Drift Roses
[Rose ‘Meijocos’]

Proceeded to prune the two Pink Drift Roses in this bed.

 First time back working in the garden since my fall.

Moved the refuse from the pruning done on … over to Dave’s gulley.

Gardening Diary – March 13, 2022

 Yesterday’s very early snowfall started to melt in the sunny afternoon. The temperatures hovered around freezing in the afternoon and dropped to around 14o F overnight. This behavior in the temperatures caused the formation of some very long icicles off the roof of the house and in some of the plants. The following pictures show the icicles on the Flowering Quinces [Chaenomeles speciosa] in the front porch bed.
