Have you been thinking to yourself "I wonder how many consecutive hours of freezing temperatures we had with this arctic outbreak?" Well folks, wonder no more! The arctic front that ushered in this outbreak of cold weather moved through during the early morning hours on December 23rd. Between that time and this afternoon, several locations clocked in at over 100 consecutive hours at/below the 32°F mark. Wise, Virginia was the winner at 107hrs!

While not a record breaking cold spell (the longest streaks on record were on the order of 6-10 days depending on the site), it was impressive nonetheless. Here's a look at several sites from across out forecast area.
